AH-64E Guardians for Korea

Boeing has emerged as the preferred supplier of attack helicopters to the Republic of Korea Army. The AH-64E Guardian was selected in preference to the Bell AH-1Z Viper or Turkish Aerospace Industries T-129. An order for 36 AH-64Es was announced by the Korean Defence Acquisition Program Administration on April 17, although the details of the Foreign Military Sale have yet to be finalised. Deliveries are due to begin in 2016 and continue into 2018, with the new type due to replace Bell AH-1S Cobras to counter North Korea's multiple rocket launchers and hovercraft.
