Poseidon Prepares

The US Navy's Patrol Squadron 16 (VP-16), known as the 'War Eagles' is preparing for the first deployment of the P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft. The P-8A will deploy to the Western Pacific in an era when tensions are high on the Korean peninsula and the Obama administration is touting its "pivot" toward the region. For the moment, the navy's P-8A activity is based at NAS Jacksonville, Florida, colloquially called Jax by sailors.
