The third Lockheed Martin F-35B Lightning Ⅱ for the UK completed its maiden flight from Fort Worth, Texas on April 1. The aircraft (ZM137, BK-3) was flown by the manufacturer's F-35 Chief Test Pilot Alan Norman. A second flight followed four days later. It will complete a series of company and US government checkout flights before being accepted by the British Ministry of Defence (MoD). It is due to be transferred later this year to Eglin AFB, Florida, where it will join the other two UK F-35Bs, which are currently being used in the operational test and evaluation for the type.
