Israeli Operations Over Lebanon

The escalating conflict in Syria has led to a corresponding increase in Israeli air operations over Lebanon. By the last week of March, Israel had doubled its rate of operations over Lebanon compared to the same period in 2012, according to United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) sources. The missions have included at least one apparent show of strength or possible rehearsal for an operation for an attack on Syrian coastal radars or missile systems on March 14 when, said UNIFIL, some 25 Israeli F-15s and F-16s in four flights flew up the Lebanese coast to a point just south of Tartus in Syria.
