DOSAAF Expands its Fleet and Roles

The DOSAAF (Volunteer Society for Co-operation with the Army, Aviation and Fleet) paramilitary organisation will add 50 aircraft to the fleet transferred from the Russian Air Force (RuAF). It will receive a combination of Let L-410 turboprops(up to 12)and Mil Mi-8T/ MT helicopters (up to 38). All the aircraft earmarked for transfer require overhaul, which DOSAAF will undertake and fund. Restoration of an L-410 is estimated at approximately $750,000, while an Mi-8 could cost between $300,000 and $500,000.
