Orions to Taiwan this Year

Taiwan will take delivery of the first of its 12 Lockheed P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft from the United States later this year and deliveries will be completed by late 2015. Deliveries had been scheduled to start in 2012 and completed by June 2015, but were delayed when Taiwan decided to move the P-3C's main operating base and maintenance hangar to Pingtung in southern Taiwan from Tao Yuan in the north. The modernised former US Navy aircraft were procured in December 2007 as part of a $1.96 billion deal.
