The 9th Airlift Squadron, 436th Airlift Wing, at Dover AFB, Delaware, will become the first US Air Force unit operating the re-engined Lockheed Martin C-5M Super Galaxy transport to achieve its initial operational capability (IOC) in August - some six months after it had originally been planned, but still within the programme's schedule guidelines. The squadron was the first to re-equip with the modernised aircraft (see First C-5M Squadron Operational, May 2012, p19).
