Scorpion Helmet Display for Raptor

The US Air Force will evaluate the Visionix helmet-mounted cueing system (HMCS) on the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor at Eglin AFB, Florida, during the summer. The integration of a helmet-mounted sight capability is one of the pre-planned product improvement items for the F-22 due to be funded in Upgrade Increment 3.2B (see Raptor Upgrade Reorganised, April 2012, p14). The HMCS is intended to provide a high off-boresight capability for the AIM-9X Sidewinder air-to-air missile, which will also be integrated in the F-22 in the upgrade.
