SPARTAN'S : WAY TO MATURITY

From a sales perspective, the C-27J Spartan has proved to be a successful programme. No fewer than 89 aircraft are on order and over four dozen are already in-operation with eight air arms worldwide. The compact airlifter is being promoted by Alenia Aeronautica as a medium tactical workhorse, tailored for demanding customers who cannot afford the much higher price tag of the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules. Or perhaps those customers who are planning to eventually complement their C-130J fleet with a less capable but more affordable tactical airlifter that can perform a wide range of missions under combat conditions.
