JF-17 Seen with New CM-400AKG Air-to-Surface Missile

Spotted for the first time during a captive test flight at CAC's home base of Chengdu/Huangtianba, in China, was a Pakistan Air Force (PAF) JF-17 with the CM-400AKG air-to-surface missile. This new supersonic standoff missile, which was first on display at the Zhuhai Airshow in 2012, is currently under development especially for the PAF. It is said to be designed for attacks against fixed or slow moving, high-value targets such as an aircraft carrier. Most likely evolved from the SY-400 SRBM, this missile does not fly at low altitude like other modern ASMs but at an unusual high ballistic trajectory. It can be described as an air-launched SRBM. The missile is powered by a solid rocket motor, has a weight of around 1,984lbs (900kg), a maximum range of 127nm (240km) and a maximum speed of Mach 5.5. It features mid-course INS guidance and utilises active radar/passive radar/IIR seeker for target-recoanition and terminal guidance.
