Lockheed Martin FB-22

Six alternative derivatives of the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor were submitted to the USAF in 2002 under the common designation FB-22. The studies were intended to meet a perceived requirement for a high-speed strike aircraft from 2015 until a completely new bomber entered service in around 2037. In April 2004, the USAF released a request for information to industry, seeking ideas for systems that could provide an interim rapid-action, long-range strike capability by 2015. AIR International understands that the USAF wants 'about two Wings' of FB-22S.
