Sun Country Airlines has gone through a turbulent period in recent years, at one point entering Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. However, as Geoff Jones discovered, it is now experiencing renewed growth under new owners. Sun Country Airlines flics a network of domestic scheduled and charter flights, though it also undertakes international services in the latter category. The airline, based in the 'Twin Cities' of Minneapolis/St Paul in the, heart of Minnesota, not far from the Canadian border, has 600 employees and a growing fleet of Boeing 737-800s. Minnesota's population is generally affluent, with a propensity to escape, at least for a while, the winter snow and ice of the 'land of 10,000 lakes' for warmer climes. Florida, Mexico, California and the Caribbean are, popular, and Sun Country serves all these, locations.
