摘要

Although the main power projection capability of US naval aviation resides in its ship-based aircraft, the Navy maintains significant warfighting capabilities in land-based patrol and reconnaissance aircraft. In recent years the introduction of more sophisticated precision-guided weapons and improved surveillance systems has dramatically expanded the striking power of these aircraft, putting the emphasis on their ability to strike targets ashore and countering enemy coastal vessels in the littoral areas of the world. A significant number of other land-based aircraft perform a myriad of support and test functions.
