Issues in the Indo-Pacific are being played out against the rise of the first Asian superpower since the end of World War Two - China. Countries across the region have ambitious military re-equipment programmes planned or underway and in the past few years, countries from Pakistan in the west to the Philippines in the east have deployed combat aircraft in anger. These operations and tensions provide opportunities for fighter manufacturers in the US, Europe and Asia, with almost every country in the region embarking on a fighter upgrade or replacement programme.
