HONDA HAS unveiled a refined variant of the HA-420 HondaJet Elite light jet. Known as the Elite S, it introduces several enhancements over the baseline Elite, which was introduced in 2018. Announcing the new model during a virtual launch event, Honda Aircraft Company's president and chief executive officer Michimasa Fujino said: "With the new Elite S, we take another step forward in expanding the aircraft's capability."The most important change is an increase in the maximum take-off weight of 200lb (91kg) for the Elite S, allowing it to carry an additional passenger the same distance as the earlier variant, or accommodate more fuel to fly approximately 120 nautical miles (222km) further with five passengers and a single pilot. The improvement in performance has been devised following analyses and flight testing to update the certification, rather than by modifications to the airframe.
