FURTHER EVIDENCE of improvement in the market for light business aircraft was provided on April 27 when Embraer announced its first quarter deliveries for this year. By the end of March Embraer had shipped 13 business aircraft, four more than during the same period in 2020 at the start of the pandemic, when the effects of shut-downs and deferrals began to make their mark on the industry. The company's best-selling Phenom 300 continued to top the list of deliveries, with nine handed over during the quarter, up from five in 2020. Other aircraft delivered in 2021 consisted of a single Phenom 100, plus two Praetor 600s and one Praetor 500, compared to none, three and one last year. The company also delivered the first conversion of a Legacy 450 to a Praetor 500 for the Canadian fractional ownership company AirSprint Private Aviation during the quarter; a second similar upgrade will be undertaken for the operator later this year.
