Hello and a warm welcome to the November edition of AIR International. Looking forward to better times in our aviation industry is, arguably, too great an ask as the global pandemic wreaks inexorable economic havoc on the sector, Meaningful business planning has become all but impossible as beleaguered airlines plead for government bailouts, air corridor lifelines come and go, and conferences and events are delayed or cancelled. But while emergencies are grist to the mill of global armed forces, where day-to-day operations remain largely unaffected by COVID-19, some optimistic visionaries are presenting a much-needed fillip for us all. As AIR International went to press, the prospect of highspeed air travel of the future took another giant step with the online roll-out of Boom Supersonic's XB-1 demonstrator. Its sleek advance aerodynamic frame, carbon fibre composite material construction and high-efficiency propulsion systems is blazing a trail towards the flagship supersonic passenger aircraft Overture.
