Air Astana to Buy A320s and 787-8s

Kazakhstan's national carrier, Air Astana, announced on January 3 that it had been agreed at a meeting of its Board of Directors on December 14 to sign Letters of Intent to place firm orders for six Airbus A320s and three Rolls-Royce Trent 1000-powered Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, worth some $950 million in total. It was further agreed that options would be taken out at the same time for an additional three A320s and three 787-8s, together valued at around $736 million. First A320 deliveries are planned for 2012, whilst the first 787 is expected in 2016.
