Vietnam Airlines Finalises $5.8 Billion in Airbus and Boeing Orders

Vietnamese national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines firmed up airliner orders worth $5.8 billion in total with Airbus and Boeing during ceremonies in Hanoi on December 21. The deal with Airbus, valued at almost $3.8 billion, covers direct firm orders by the airline for ten A321-200S and ten A350XWB-900s, plus an order for a further ten A321-200s for Vietnam Aircraft Leasing Company (VALC), in which Vietnam Airlines is a major shareholder. The contract firms up a Memorandum of Understanding signed on October 1, 2007 (see Headline News, November, p4).
