On November 17,1944, 20 12,000lb (5,443kg) light case high capacity (LC HC) bombs and 20 8,000lb (3,628kg) bombs were transferred from the bomb store at RAF Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire to RAF Bardney, the home of No.lX(B) Squadron. On the night of November 26,1944,15 crews from No.IX(B) Squadron were briefed for a raid on Munich in southern Germany.
