First Royal Australian Air Force Super Hornet Flown

On July 20 the first Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornet for the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) made its maiden flight from Lambert International Airport in St Louis, Mississippi, in the hands of one of the manufacturer's test pilots. The aircraft (A44-201/BuNo 167957) is the first of 24 examples completed to Block II standard for the air arm, and has been painted in No. 1 Squadron's colours, with which it will enter service at RAAF Amberley, Queensland, in the first third of 2010.
