Operating any new type of helicopter presents challenges during development, operational testing and on the frontline. Commonly known as the 'Romeo', the US Navy's newest helicopter is the Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk. The first fleet squadron to operate the type is Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 71 (HSM-71) 'Raptors', which stood up at NAS North Island. California, on October 4, 2007.
