RAF Helicopter Crews Training in Jordan

During May and June RAF helicopter crews have been preparing for operations in Afghanistan by flying sorties in Jordan. More than 300 personnel from RAF Benson, Oxfordshire, and RAF Odiham, Hampshire, have participated in Exercise Desert Vortex at King Faisal Air Base near Amman in the Hashemite Kingdom. The RAF deployed six Chinooks from RAF Odiham and three Merlins from RAF Benson, along with aircrew, engineers and support staff. The Merlins accumulated over 230 flight hours in Jordan.
