The RAFs last Tornado F3 unit, No.111(F) Squadron based at RAF Leuchars in Fife, has temporarily relocated to RAF Lossiemouth in Moray while runway repairs are carried out. No.111(F) Squadron is responsible for the UK's Northern Quick Reaction Alert (QRA), so two Tornado F3s wilt be on permanent alert status at RAF Kinloss. The Tornado F3 is due to retire in March 2011 when Typhoons from No.6 Squadron are expected to take over QRA duties at Leuchars.
