Falcon Becomes S-76D Launch Customer

Falcon Aviation Services (FAS) of Abu Dhabi is to be the launch customer for the Sikorsky S-76D. During an announcement at the Dubai Airshow on November 16 the manufacturer revealed that FAS had ordered two S-76Ds and placed options for an additional pair. The helicopters will be configured for VIP and offshore oil and gas support missions. The first example is due to be delivered in 2011. The new variant first flew on February 7, 2009 (see Prototype Sikorsky S-76D Flies, March 2009 p16) and should enter production in 2010.
