While the COVID-19 crisis was a pivotal factor, the collapse of Europe's largest regional airline was not solely due to the coronavirus. The existing problems Flybe was facing were only made worse by the reduction in air travel as a result of the outbreak. That said, the airline will likely go down in aviation history as the first to fall victim to the effects of the coronavirus on the commercial aviation industry.
