The P2006T's original wing and two gas-fuelled Rotax 912S3 horizontally opposed four-cylinder geared piston engines have been replaced with a slimmer, high-aspect ratio wing. This experimental design employs a distributed electric propulsion (DEP) system, developed from NASA's Leading-Edge Asynchronous Propeller Technology (LEAPTech) project. The new wing is 42% of the size of the P2006T's original wing with its surface area of 153,3sq ft (14.75m2). This reduction facilitates smoother, more efficient flight by decreasing friction drag, making it less sensitive to turbulence and wind gusts.
