Air France axes the A380

The twin-jet tide continues to sweep through the industry at the expense of the quad-jets, after Air France announced it is to phase out its entire Airbus A380 fleet within three years. Reports late last year claimed the carrier was planning to trim its A380 fleet, and when AIR International asked the airline for comment at the time it would only say it was studying the future size of its super jumbo fleet. However, the airline recently confirmed its management has now signed off a plan to withdraw the type completely from service by 2022.
