A locally produced tactical unmanned aircraft system (UAS) was unveiled in the Armenian capital Yerevan during a military parade that celebrated the 20th anniversary of the country's independence on September 21. The UAS is designated Krunk-25 (Crane-25). Developed by the Armenian Ministry of Defence Air Force Institute, the Krunk-25 UAS has a reported maximum take-off weight of 60kg (1331b) and a service ceiling of 3,500m (11,480ft). The air vehicle has a cruise speed of 150km/h (94mph) and is equipped with a small, stabilised electro-optical payload for surveillance operations. Controlled by a three-crew mobile ground control station, the Krunk-25 is expected to be mainly deployed in Nagorno-Karabakh, an area disputed with neighbouring Azerbaijan, which also possesses tactical UASs, including the Aerostar produced by Aeronautics.
