On June 13, Thai Airways International announced that its board had approved plans to acquire 37 new airliners between 2011 and 2017. A total of 15 aircraft will be purchased for 49.5 billion baht ($1.62 billion) and operating leases will be taken out on another 22, worth approximately 60 billion baht ($1.97 billion). The orders will comprise six Boeing 777-300ERs and five Airbus A320s, all for delivery in 2014 and 2015, plus four Airbus A350-900s that are due to enter service in 2016 and 2017. The International Lease Finance Corporation will supply six Boeing 787-8s from 2014 and 2015 and two 787-9s in 2017, all on 12-year leases.
