Indian and Russia Agree to Develop Fifth Generation Fighter

On December 21, 2010, a preliminary design contract for the Indo-Russian Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) was signed in Delhi between N C Agarwal, Director (Design and Development) at Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd; A Isaykin, the General Director of Rosoboronexport; and M Pogosyan, General Director of RAC MiG and Sukhoi. Known as the Perspective Multi-role Fighter (PMF), the new aircraft will be based on the Sukhoi T-50 and feature low-observability, supercruise, ultra-manoeuvrability, an integrated avionics suite, enhanced situational awareness, the internal carriage of weapons and network-centric warfare capabilities.
