Japan Orders Five MV-22 Ospreys

An order for five V-22B Osprey Block Cs for the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) has been placed with the Bell Boeing Joint Project Office. The $332.5 million Foreign Military Sales contract was awarded on July 14 by Naval Air Systems Command, marking the first international sale of the type. Bell Helicopter's executive vice president of Military Business, Mitch Snyder, said following the announcement: "The Bell-Boeing team is honoured to have Japan as the first international customer for the V-22 tiltrotor."
