Russia's new military transport regiment

A new composite military transport regiment is set to be established by the Russian Air and Space Force's Military Transport Aviation branch in December 2017. The regiment will be stationed in Ulyanovsk and according to Lt Gen Vladimir Benedictov, commander of the Military Transport Aviation branch, its fleet will comprise II-76s, including the new II-76MD-90A version in addition to An-2 biplanes used mainly for training the Airborne Troops branch. In the future, the An-124 Ruslan heavy lift transports will also join the fleet of the new regiment.
