Fiftieth anniversary of the Fenestron

AIRBUS HELICOPTERS announced on April 12, 2018, that its Fenestron shrouded tail rotor concept has celebrated the 50th anniversary of its maiden flight. The first Fenestron, fitted to the second prototype Aerospatiale (Sud Aviation) SA341 Gazelle, flew for the first time from Marignane on April 12,1968, and has become a trademark of several helicopters designed and built by Sud Aviation, Aerospatiale, Eurocopter and, most recently, Airbus Helicopters.
