Operation Enduring Freedom

As of June 19, a total of 2,233 Americans had died in Operation Enduring Freedom. The total includes 2,230 troops and three Department of Defense civilians. Of these deaths, 1,756 were in killed in action with the enemy, while 475 died in noncombat incidents. There have been 18,795 troops wounded in action during OEF. The Afghan air force continues to grow in capacity and capability as Afghan National Security Forces take the lead in the fight against insurgents and NATO troops move into an advisory role, according to a news release from coalition air advisors in Kabul.
