By Jan. 14, a total of 2,166 Americans had died in Operation Enduring Freedom. The total includes 2,163 troops and three Department of Defense civilians. Of these deaths, 1,716 were killed in action with the enemy while 448 died in noncombat incidents. There have been 18,188 troops wounded in action during OEF. The Air Force is looking to modify Afghan Air Force Cessna C-208 light airlifters with specialized equipment for cargo airdrop, according to a solicitation to industry published late last year.
