Turnover, defined as the act of an employee leaving an organization, has assumed crisis proportions for many employers who struggle to retain people in their organization. Because turnover costs can range from 93 percent to 200 percent of the leaver's annual salary, both public and private organizations are doing all they can to minimize the loss of their employees. The military is not immune to the tremendous cost of turnover as the Government Accountability Office review reported approximately 62 percent of enlisted personnel and 40 percent of officers intend to leave the military once their active duty service commitments are complete.
