Simplified higher order plate theories satisfy the transverse shear stress continuity conditions as well as the kine- matic continuity conditions. Thus, they provide realistic displacement fields with the small number of dependent variables. These theories require tedious computations, however, since their in-plane displacement field is more complicated than the first-order shear theory. In this study, a simple and economical method is proposed without loss of accuracy of solutions. This method consists of two steps. First is to obtain the relationship between rotational angles of first order shear deformation plate theory (FOPT) and efficient higher order plate theory (EHOPT).
