NTSB Releases Special Investigation Report on the Safety of Agricultural Aircraft Operations

As the peak agricultural aircraft operations season gets under way, thoughts about safety remain front and center. A new National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) report details the safety issues the agency found in its review of ag operations accidents in 2013. In May, the NTSB, joined by representatives from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Agricultural Aviation Association, released findings from its special investigation report on the safety of ag operations, along with recommendations and a Safety Alert on avoiding collisions with obstacles. The report includes recommendations to the FAA and the National Agricultural Aviation Research & Education Foundation to work together to develop and distribute ag operations-specific guidance on pilot fatigue management, risk management, aircraft maintenance and pilot knowledge and skills tests.
