New Gas Source For Sasol

South Africa's Sasol has just made a new gas discovery in Mozambique's offshore where it already works the Pande and Temane fields. The first exploration well drilled on blocks 16/19 that Sasol acquired in Mozambique's offshore in 2006, the Njika 1 well (it was drilled to a depth of 1615 meters) identified gas reserves. Tests currently underway are expected to determine the exact amounts. To finance the well, Sasol handed a 35% stake on the two permits to Malaysia's Petronas last month. Another exploration well is due to be drilled in the same area in coming weeks.
