Army turns to MBDA and Spain's Duma to reverse its NW/SW misfortunes

Anglophone independence fighters in the North-Westand South-West regions (NW/SW) have made life very difficult for Cameroon's armed forces, which are determined to step up their response. Chief of staff Rene Claude Mekahas been looking for a lot of equipment,including 100 to 150 new armoured vehicles. Following contacts with the Spanish manufacturer Duma Engineering, Yaounde now favours the ASV350 model,available as a light armoured vehicle (APC), as well as aninfantry fighting vehicle (IFV). According to our sources,missile manufacturer MBDA could also be brought on board as a weapons systems integrator. Negotiations are currently focusing on the financing of the operation.
