Tshisekedi fixes Gertler and associates in his sights over oil dispute with Angola

The Congolese hydrocarbons minister Didier Budimbu has been instructed by President Félix Tshisekedi not to go easy on the associates of the Israeli businessman Dan Gertler. And in a letter dated 23 July which Africa Intelligence has seen, Budimbu was suitably forthright, ordering the managing director of national oil company Sonahydroc, Hubert Miyimi, to provide him "urgently and in precise detail" with an account of the agreements and transactions concluded with Nessergy. This company registered in Gibraltar in 2006 and belonging to Gertler managed to obtain that same year a licence to explore in the joint interest zone (JIZ) shared by the DRC and Angola.
