During a conference on Ivory Coast organized in Paris by Business France on July 12 at the Senate, the director of the consulting firm EY in Ivory Coast, Eric N'Guessan, spoke on behalf of his clients. Attendees included Pedro Novo, the export director of the state bank Bpifrance, François Sporrer, the head of the economic service for West Africa of the General Directorate of the French Treasury - France contributes to the Ivorian budget through a debt-relief and development (C2D) contract - and the minister in charge of promoting private investment in Ivory Coast, Emmanuel Esmel Essis. N'Guessan suggested tapping into the informal sector to expand the Ivorian tax base, rather than increasing taxes on large corporations.
