Iveco and BNP Paribas keep army trucking along

After six years of consultations, the Tunisian army has put in an order for 500 Magirus 4x4 and 6x6 trucks from Iveco for a total of €62m. The German manufacturer, which previously provided 500 units under a 2015 contract, beat off France's Renault Trucks and Turkish firm BMC Trucks to win the new contract. Renault was quickly taken out of the race having not provided units to be tested in the Tunisian desert. BMC Trucks lost out as its offer was more expensive. It had previously supplied the army with around 100 Kirpi armoured troop carriers financed by a loan of several hundred million dollars from Tuerk Eximbank to pay for Tunisia's purchase of Turkish equipment.
