Rwandan civil war crops up in dispute between BNP Paribas and security company Ronange

French banking group BNP Paribas is beingsued before the Paris Court of Commerceby security company Ronange. In 2015, thegroup put Ronange in charge of security atits offices in Pantin in the north easternsuburbs of Paris. On 1 January 2021,however, it unexpectedly took the companyoff the contract. In mid-December, afterseveral attempts at conciliation, Ronange'sfounder, Marc Le Loeuff, started legalaction at the court of commerce to contestthe bank's decision, arguing that thecompany had been made dependent on thebank via a series of short-term contracts.
