Dig Oil takes advantage of Kinshasa's silence in US court

The DRC has been silent since April last year regardingDig Oil's case against it and has submitted nodocuments to contest the request for a default judgmentfiled by the South African firm in October in a US court.The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in 2018ordered the DRC to pay Dig Oil more than $600m forhaving unduly withdrawn Block 1 in the Albertine Grabenfrom it in 2010 and for delaying approval of itsproduction contracts on blocks 8, 22, and 23 in CuvetteCentrale. A year ago, Dig Oil petitioned a District ofColumbia court to have that ruling confirmed.
