The top brass of the Grande Loge de Cote d'Ivoire (GLCI) met in Abidjan last week and appointed their deputy grand master, lawyer Sylvere Koyo, to act as interim head after grand master Hamed Bakayoko passed into the "eternal Orient". A message sent to all brothers stated that Koyo will act as interim grand master until the election of a new leader at the lodge's next general assembly. A meeting was organised for 27 April to formally induct him into office and introduce him to the members of the lodge. The general assembly is traditionally held in April, but it is likely that the next one will not be held until 2022. The leaders of the lodge want to change the rules and regulations before appointing their next grand master and to end the provision that makes the office a lifetime position.
