Financial intermediary Lilium Capital targets opportunities in agriculture

The presentation Simon Tiemtoré is due to give at the agribusiness panel discussion at the Guinean Investment Forum, which will take place in Conakry from 24 to 26 February, is eagerly awaited. The Burkinabe businessman, who founded New York-based financial intermediation company Lilium Capital, is understood to be working on projects in the agribusiness sector and to have recently paid a visit to Guinea in this context. We contacted Lilium Capital about this but the company declined to reply to our questions. Alongside mining, which is Guinea's main revenue source, President Alpha Condé, who was elected for a third term in October, is counting on agriculture to boost the country's economic growth. In a clear indication of his interest in the sector, Ahoua Don Mello, his special adviser on major projects who served as a minister in Ivory Coast under former president Laurent Gbagbo (Africa Intelligence, 10/04/19), will also be taking part in the agribusiness panel at the forum.
