With just two weeks to go until the deadline for applications, outgoing president Ismail Omar Guelleh (IOG) may finally have his first competitor, the Franco-Djiboutian businessman Zakaria Ismael Farah (ZIF). Until Thursday, ZIF, the only other candidate declared for the presidential election on 9 April, was awaiting the outcome of an administrative procedure allowing him to renounce his French nationality.
