The appeal of former Minister of Communication and journalist Harry Rahajason, better known by his pen name of Rolly Mercia, has been adjourned to 5 March following a dramatic development in the case on 5 February. The sole witness for the prosecution declined to appear, indicating that statements he had previously made had been a "pure lie". Mercia, who is being defended by star Madagascan lawyer Eric Rafidison, has decided not to wait until his appeal options under Madagascan law have been exhausted, however, to turn for help to the United Nations.
